Assassin's Creed Shadows - Forest compositions and density
In bringing Kii, Yamato and Wakasa to life, we sought to capture both the distinct beauty of these regions and an authentic, evocative representation of Japan as a whole. Every detail—from the lush landscapes to the unmistakable atmosphere - was crafted to immerse players in a world that feels both rich and true to its essence.
A defining feature of these lands is their dense, towering vegetation. Layers of mid- and large-scale trees, varying in species and form, weave into the steep terrain, creating an almost impenetrable canopy. These natural compositions not only shape the scenery but also guide players along winding, narrow paths that carve through the wilderness.
Hidden within this vast scenery are moments of sometimes unexpected encounters and quiet discovery - ancient shrines concealed in the depths of the forest, their presence marked only by towering torii gates. These elements reinforce our artistic vision: to present nature as more than just a backdrop, but as a living, breathing force - one that shapes the world, enriches every encounter, and makes the journey feel truly organic and authentic.
This experience has been nothing short of remarkable - filled with admiration, deep respect, relentless dedication, and countless hours of learning and growth. But above all, it was driven by a collective pursuit of beauty and excellence.
I am profoundly grateful to all my colleagues, who poured their hearts and souls into this project, and it has been both an honor and a privilege to stand alongside them on this adventure.
